The Grand Massif is a true paradise for walkers of all abilities - there are 900km of walking routes, starting at 700 metres and continuing to 3,100 metres altitude.
To help you discover the area, you can hire a guide, a half day is 15 euros, or 22 euros for a whole day.
For those wanting to undertake longer hikes and excursions, mountain refuges are open throughout the summer, and cost around 35 euros a night for half board.
Samoens is extremely close to Switzerland, and walkers can even take a 6 day "Tour des Dents Blanches", which explores this quiet and beautiful area.
